What To Wear For A Wedding In Hawaii

It's going to be hot - you already know that. So woolen and heavy fabrics are of course, out. Instead think lightweight - linen, organza and silk are good.

For dresses, it's best to go strapless or spaghetti-strap. The groom should think white shirt - whether in linen, silk or light cotton. He could always go the whole hog and get a white or ivory linen suit (very smart, we personally think).

A wedding in a hot island such as Hawaii can often be on the relaxed side and that means the dress code can be too. We've seen a lot of bright colors at weddings - mango orange, sunshine yellow and lime green. And why not? If you're more interested in a casual rather than a formal ceremony then Hawaii fits the bill excellently - especially if it's a beach wedding where in some cases flipflops are the order of the day.

One thing we'd strongly point out for the bride and her bridesmaids is to watch what they're doing make-up wise. That's because the sun isn't kind to the likes of foundation and mascara. Instead a light tinted moisturizer is probably best, along with paler shades such as pink blusher instead of red and brown waterproof rather than black mascara.

Whatever you decide to wear or paint your face with though, here at Aloha Bridal Gallery we just know you're going to have THE most amazing time!

2013 Top Hawaii Wedding Trends

With 2012 behind us and 2013 rearing its head, we're ever so excited to see what the next wedding
season brings in the way of trends. Here's a list of "trending" ideas that we've seen so far for 2013:

• Destination weddings: A Destination wedding is the perfect answer to our ever changing
economy. With talks of tax hikes and government changes, couples are opting for
wedding "vacations" since their guests are able to kill two birds with one stone that way.

• Less is more: Brides are not going to be covered from head to toe in rhinestones; instead
they are opting for a more classic and less “done up” look. We are going to continue to see
delicate lace in wedding dresses and more attention to the feminine details.

• Customization: Pinterest is huge because of the "customization" trend. Brides search
for photos of 2013 wedding ideas and Pinterest has them. Etsy has also captured brides
attention since it's so easy to purchase customized wedding items that way.

• Creative photography: Long gone are the days of candid wedding shots..now wedding "art"
is on trend. Couples are turning to wedding photographers with an "artsy" edge who will
turn their favorite shots into wall art. Couples (and photographers) are also getting more
daring with their photos and be prepared to see more use of props and fun settings.

What to do think the 2013 wedding industry will look like?

Blake and Ryan’s wedding photos

When Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds got married in South Carolina a few months ago, they opted for a very private day. They’re still keeping things pretty quiet, but have now released a few photos from their wedding.
The new issue of Martha Stewart Weddings is going to include the first peek at the couple’s destination wedding. So far, we’ve seen a few preview photos and absolutely loved the relaxed and rustic style of the wedding.

The couple’s dessert table was a big part of the wedding, from what we can tell. The couple gave their guests a huge selection of their favorite treats, including strawberry shortcake, s’mores, and lemon tartlets.
We also got a peak at Blake’s bouquet, which was full of pale pink and ivory flowers. Some petals had also been dipped in a rose-gold glitter to match the embroidery in Blake’s dress. We still haven’t see a full photo of her custom Marchesa gown but can only imagine is must have been stunning.

What do you think of Blake and Ryan’s wedding photos? Do you like to rustic style? Tell us below!

When To Book Wedding Professionals

Many brides want to know how early they should begin booking things for their Hawaii wedding. The answer is always as soon as they can!

You shouldn’t feel overly pressured about booking things like venues, but it is important to make
decisions in good time. If you have a date set, you’ll need to make sure that your preferred venue is
available that day.

Keep in mind that some of the most popular venues will be booked as much as a few years in
advance. It’s good to be prepared with alternate venues, alternate dates, or both. The more flexible
your plans are, the easier it will be for you to book everything.

Many vendors, such as your florist and cake maker, will need a big lead time to ensure that they’ll
have everything that you want for your special day. Bands might also need to learn your favorite
song, which can take time.

The earlier you book things for your Hawaiian wedding, the better. Early booking can also help your
guests make their travel and accommodation arrangements .

2013 Wedding Trend: Emerald Green is Wedding Color of the Year

This week Pantone, the company that serves as the ultimate color authority for designers, announced its 2013 Color of the Year. The color, Emerald (PANTONE 17-5641), is a lovely rich green inspired by its namesake jewel.

The color of the year for 2012 was Tangerine Tango. We saw this vibrant, reddish orange tone show up everywhere, from bouquets to shoes.

Emerald tones are set to take over the design world in the coming years, and we can’t wait to see how brides use it. With its lovely green, we hope there will be plenty of rich foliage additions to bouquets. We also think it’ll be a great color for bridesmaids’ dresses, and can look perfect alongside the soft mint color trends we’re seeing for bridal gowns.

One thing we can be sure of is that Emerald will look great for every season. It can highlight the lush nature of spring and summer, and give an elegant touch to autumn and winter, too.
What do you think of Emerald? Will it be a part of your wedding?

Light covered dress shown at Shanghai

It’s always fun to see the fabulous wedding gowns designers show at fashions weeks. The Shanghai Fashion Week offerings were particularly interesting this year. One stand-out dress was Yumi Katsura’s light up dress.

Katsura’s couture gown collection

The designer, who is known for couture gowns, showed a full gown covered in lights. The dress has a full skirt with a feathery look. When the lights went down, though, the feathery parts lit up with a bright white light. Katsura said it was the perfect dress for a bride who really wanted to stand out.

Along with the full skirted gown, the designer also had two partially lit dresses on show. These two dresses, with narrow A-line skirts, had a floral detail over the shoulder that lit up. One featured blue lights while the other used green lights.

Katsura’s couture gown collection also included some gowns in very bright colors, as well as some more traditional ivory dresses. Her collection also showed that lace continues to be hot with bridal designers.

What do you think about a light up gown? Would you wear it as part of your dream Hawaiian wedding?
